.......................Some random thoughts from a DCC User..................JRN
The once hyper-kinetic spokesbolt for the electric utility industry...Reddy Kilowatt....I heard at the "train guy's" breakfast that old Reddy-K is now working in the hobby business, and no he was not that from guy from Lenexa who sold me that #!@$'ed DCC system.....Where did Reddy-K go to retire?....Was it at Digitrax?...Or is he building QSI sound systems somewhere??...well either way, I certainly hope he has not gone into the nuclear industry!....or worse yet he is a model railroader in retirement.?!? .....No matter, I'm glad he's gone, he never did understand what it took to be Your DCC Electric Servant.......
By the way..who was the writer at Model Railroader who said DCC was so much simpler??....If I ever find him......I'll X!#$ed!!!!!!!!! Plese E-mail with your helpful comments and I'll add them to my list. E-Mail: jrneedham@needhamassoc.com Common Digitrax, DCC and QSI
Sound, Troubles and Solutions Introduction I am stuck with Digitrax since I dont feel like changing! For anyone interested in Prototypical Model Operations I would not recommend Digitrax since I believe the decoders and throttles are not rugged enough and the system is overly complex if you just want to reliably run trains. On the plus side it has many potential features that may make it a good choice for some users. Just know what you are getting into and what are the alternatives (See Easy DCC). The following is a summary of common issues and troubles that seem to come up with Digitrax. The problem with Digitrax is these issue arise at the most inopportune times, usually when visiting operators are present. Since the actual Digitrax manuals are written in a fashion only a Jet Propulsion Engineer could like, the following are simplified summaries of various issues.
